About
Uchechukwu "Uche" Iloanusi
Uche is a Masters Level Practitioner with over 5 years of experience in clinical mental health. She works with adolescents, transitional-age youth, and adults across the developmental lifespan to help identify and navigate challenges that are barriers to change. Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, life transitions, sport psychology specifically athletes transitioning away from athletics, as well as cultural and racial struggles within the BIPOC population.
In congruence with the philosophy of Berin Psych Inc., Uche provides affirming, safe, and inclusive care where individuals can explore their life experiences utilizing personal strengths and resilience to build internal resources and address beliefs, assumptions and values that may inhibit change. Her clinical and therapeutic approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, deconstructing therapy in a manner that allows individuals to utilize their lived experience and to regain a sense of control in their lives.
Uche utilizes several therapeutic modalities including Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as all can be instrumental in identifying evaluating, and building capacity in areas of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive control. Uche believes that change is most impactful within the context of collaboration, mutual trust, and respect. In sessions, individuals can expect an affirming and supportive environment to establish realistic goals, address concerns, and develop strategies to overcome their obstacles. This approach allows space for uniqueness while ensuring accountability. She looks forward to welcoming the opportunity to work with you.
Berin Psych values what it takes to become a skilled mental health practitioner. Recognizing and appreciating the efforts of our team establishes a practice of care that extends to clients served.
As such, mutual respect is a building block in our foundation.
Also, we believe that representation matters and that all identities are recognized and respected.
