About
Ginny Lindgren
Ginny started as a special education teacher in public schools, where her focus was working with children diagnosed with cognitive and behavioral challenges. Working with children was rewarding, but she quickly learned that she was better suited to support their social-emotional needs outside of the classroom environment. So, she pivoted and pursued a career in clinical mental health counseling, graduating from Rhode Island College in May 2023. Shortly thereafter, she earned her associate license (LMHC-A) in RI, and she is working towards independent licensure with Berin Psych Inc., seeing clients in both RI and MA who range in age from 13-65 years old.
Ginny performs individual therapy and couples therapy with both neurodivergent and neurotypical people. She welcomes modern family structures and works with couples who identify with the polyamorous lifestyle. Ginny's approach and skills are aligned with persons interested in addressing complex life dynamics through authenticity and transparency. She supports people who present with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma reactivity, as well as substance use and dependence.
Ginny is most influenced by client-centered, acceptance, and commitment therapy approaches. As a result, she is present with her clients in the “here and now” while helping to investigate and support behavior change from the lens of value-based work. Ginny strongly believes that her role as a mental health provider is to be compassionate and to give grace to the human experience. She does not judge, and she provides an inherent level of respect to you as the expert on your life.
The intersectionality of privilege and marginalization has been a part of her identity for many years. She is actively learning to navigate both terrains as a transgender woman. Since starting her gender affirmation journey, she has found significant value in working within and across groups of people who identify as neurodivergent and who are members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Ginny respects the therapeutic alliance and understands that any healthy relationship's foundation is trust. As such, she welcomes feedback and looks forward to earning your trust as we travel on this journey together.
Berin Psych values what it takes to become a skilled mental health practitioner. Recognizing and appreciating the efforts of our team establishes a practice of care that extends to clients served.
As such, mutual respect is a building block in our foundation.
